The “Three B’s” - birds, bait and bass - were all in place this morning, and that made for some outrageous fishing. First, we trolled ‘em off Bay Head. Later, off the Thunderbird, the fish were more concentrated and we could jig them. Non-stop action from 7:30 AM ’til noon. There were a lot of short fish, but also plenty of keepers from 28 to 30 inches.  The stripers were feeding on huge schools  of sandeels. Only caught one bluefish today. The water temperature is down to 49 degrees.

Excellent trolling for 3- to 5-pound bluefish off Sea Girt and Spring Lake this morning, but only one striper. At least that was a nice one, though - 32 inches. Most of the fleet headed south - down below Seaside - but because mine was a half-day trip, time didn’t allow for a long run. I had to find whatever I could close to port. Hey, we made the best of it.
